Crane Inspector/ Foreman – Grade 7
This position is responsible for all aspects of crane inspection, maintenance, repair, installation, etc. This is a Management-level position and has authorization to quote work, sales and estimate repairs. He is expected to function independently and must be able to troubleshoot and repair virtually any problem. He possesses outstanding electrical and mechanical skills. The CIF is responsible for all on-site crew activities and assignments. He will be a direct customer liaison and must be able to interact successfully with all levels of customer management and staff.

The CIF will be an internal and external reference of state and federal regulatory statutes relating to crane safety, operation, inspection and maintenance. The CIF is fluent in all PCI policies and procedures. The CIF is computer-literate and is able to administrate all business functions in the absence of the Operations Director or Company President. The CIF has the authority to train, coach and/or discipline subordinates (including termination). This position reports directly to the Operations Director and the Company President.


The CIF will posses all the skills of the CI, plus the following:
Operational knowledge of office business technology (computers, fax, copiers, internet, etc.).
Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Corel Word Perfect, Windows, etc.
Fundamental knowledge of sound business practices (budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, etc.).
Exceptional decision making skills (PCI interests foremost)
Positive “can-do” attitude
Qualified to accept management responsibility (hire/fire, review, teach, coach, etc.)
Sales and customer interaction skills
Telephone skills
Parts ordering
Vendor relations
Report form data entry

Responsibilities
Supervise activities of all crew members
Train crew members in new skills
Evaluate existing crew members
Crew advisor on policies and procedures
Plan jobs and prepare materials
Order rental equipment, tools and supplies

Crane Inspector Team Leader – Grade 6
This is a temporary, as needed position that will be assigned when the Field Foreman is not on site. The team leader assumes responsibility for the scope of work and becomes the liaison between PCI and the end customer and also between the on-site crew and the Operations Director. Crane Inspector Team Leaders are assigned by the Operations Director. This assignment is considered a training and evaluation opportunity for Crane Inspectors and Assistant Crane Inspectors who wish to advance into positions of more responsibility. There is a temporary hourly increase while functioning in this capacity.


Crane Inspector - Grade 5
This is a highly technical position that requires extensive crane knowledge and experience. The Crane Inspector is responsible for all facets of crane inspection, maintenance and repair. He is an expert in electrical and mechanical systems. He is expected to function independently and must be able to troubleshoot and repair virtually any crane malfunction. The CI will demonstrate and apply in-depth knowledge of state and federal regulatory statutes relating to crane safety, operation, inspection and maintenance. The CI will posses fundamental welding and fabrication skills. The CI is a highly visible position within the organization and interacts with customers on a regular basis. This position works closely with the Field Foreman and the Operations Director.

Thorough knowledge of OSHA/ ASME crane inspection procedures
Extensive knowledge of the operation and repair of all makes and models of overhead cranes and hoists
Comprehensive knowledge of mobile crane inspection procedures
Lift equipment operation and pre-op inspection (scissor lift, Genie Lift, boom lift, etc.).
Forklift operation and performance inspection
Load test procedures (all media) and deflection interpretation
Blueprint interpretation
NDT procedures and flaw identification
Rail survey procedures and data interpretation
Weld and structural integrity identification
Electrical meter usage, application and interpretation
Basic fabrication design

Assistant Crane Inspector - Structural/ Fabricator – Grade 4
The Structural/ Fabricator position is a technical position involving welding, fabrication and design of crane related equipment. The SF should be a Certified Welder experienced in all types of industrial welding applications. In addition to these qualifications, the SF will also posses all of the skills and abilities of the Assistant Crane Inspector. The SF is expected to function primarily as a Crane Inspector/ Mechanic, but will apply his structural/ fabrication skills as the need arises.

In-depth knowledge of OSHA/ ASME crane inspection procedures
Familiarity with the operation and repair of many makes and models of overhead cranes and hoists
Knowledge of mobile crane inspection procedures
Lift equipment operation and pre-op inspection (scissor lift, Genie Lift, boom lift, etc.).

NDT procedures and flaw identification
Rail survey procedures and data interpretation

Assistant Crane Inspector – Grade 3
The Assistant Crane Inspector position combines versatility and expanding technical knowledge. The ACI must have a solid foundation of overhead and mobile crane knowledge, fundamental troubleshooting skills and be able to assist the CI in all facets of the job. The ACI may be expected to function independently as customer demand and skill levels dictate. The ACI will demonstrate working knowledge of state and federal regulatory statutes relating to crane safety, operation, inspection and maintenance. The ACI reports directly to the CI while on site. The ACI position is a learning opportunity and is the next step towards achieving the position of Crane Inspector. ACI’s may be appointed Crane Inspection Team Leader in the event that their specific field of expertise or certification deems it appropriate.

Crane Apprentice – Grade 2
The CA position is a learning opportunity and is primarily an on-site support function for the CIF or the CI. CA’s possess basic mechanical skills and rudimentary crane inspection and maintenance knowledge. The CA will learn on-the-job from observing the activities of the CIF and the CI. The CA will become familiar with regulatory codes and standards as they relate to overhead and mobile cranes.

Support Technician – Grade 1
This is a non-skilled, entry-level position that is intended to familiarize the new-hire with PCI procedures and processes. Support Techs function as assistants to senior level employees. New employees with little crane knowledge will fall into this category during their probationary period. This is an evaluation and training position intended to verify that the new employee possesses the necessary skills and abilities to function and advance within this organization. Support Technicians are expected to progress to Assistant Crane inspectors

Crane Services Sales Manager – Grade A
The dedicated CSSM position is an integral component of an overall corporate growth strategy. This is a commission-based position dealing with all aspects of PCI sales and marketing strategies. The CSSM is responsible for all customer contact, customer contact tracking, sales, sales follow-up, site visits, canvassing, etc. The CSSM will employ proven sales and marketing techniques in order to increase the PCI local and regional customer base and to augment our industry presence. The CSSM will work closely with the Director of Operations to develop an aggressive, effective marketing strategy for PCI products and services.

The SCCM will develop and implement a marketing program to generate new-client sales and enhance company growth. The CSSM will call or visit prospective clients and deliver effective sales presentations. The CSSM will posses strong closing skills and be able to deal effectively with customers ranging from small business owners to corporate management. This is a high-profile, results-driven position and will be rewarded accordingly. The CSSM will make his own schedule based upon client needs and individual goals.
